I had the privilege of working on the South Island of New Zealand for a year from June of 2012 through June of 2013. Milford Sound is a popular attraction on the South Island and the weather is notoriously changeable. On the day I drove to Milford Sound the sun was shining and the beauty along the way was so astounding I would find myself stopping frequently to take photos. This photos is one of those I took, awed by the beauty and grandeur of the area. I have been interested in photography for many years but travel in NZ brought me to a new level of interest and experience.Time
I was attempting to get to the launching area for the Milford Sound cruise so this was taken on the way there in the morning.Lighting
Fortunately, the day was sunny, a somewhat unusual occurrence on this road.Equipment
I used the Nikon Coolpix that I purchased for this trip - before I became more serious about my photography and purchased an upgraded camera after I returned. This trip and opportunity really escalated my interest in photography and when I look at this NZ picture it takes me back to the beauty of that road to Milford Sound.Inspiration
I was driving along the road in awe at all around me when I saw this grouping of mountains and found a place to pull over and take a photo.Editing
Initially I did not since I did not have lightroom at the time. Later all I had to do was lighten the shadows to bring out some of the surrounding greenery and adjust the exposure a bit.In my camera bag
Right now I have a Nikon D750 with a AF-S 24-120mm1:4G lens. I am adding a tripod and remote shutter release to begin playing with and want to add a macro lens.Feedback
Follow the beauty - go with what moves you and most likely it will move someone else.
