Location
This photo was taken at Cathedral Caves in the Catlins of New Zealand. The cave is accessible only at safe times and during low tide. I was visiting with my friend and her son and fortunately on this trip the Caves were open and the tide was out.Time
This was taken approximately 3-4 PM in the afternoon while the tides was out. We had limited time to be here before the tide came in. Interestingly enough, my New Zealand friends had never seen the caves themselves.Lighting
Viewing the open cave with my friends going out left me with the sense of adventure and fun that I wanted to remember from spending this memorable time with them.Equipment
This was taken on the current camera at the times which was a Nikon Coolpix camera.Inspiration
I love silhouettes and wanted to capture the sense of excitement and adventure of the child and the sense of entering into a new world.Editing
This of course was an original color photo that I felt conveyed the message more clearly as a black and white with the contrasting cave and figures. In my camera bag
For Travel I do like to travel as light as I can and usually take my now Nikon D750 with an AF S Nikkor 24:120mm 4G lens. This expedition was not meant to be a photography trip but rather a day with friends - the secret is to always have a camera with you to catch shots that present themselves.Feedback
Take adventures and follow your instincts. Impromptu of people catching them in their unposed style gives you the sense of that person.
