This photo of a female Orangutan, blind on one eye, was taken at the Gunung Leuser National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Orangutans are highly intelligent, peaceful animals and unfortunately critically endangered. Being arboreal apes they need the forest to survive which has been massively destroyed by palm oil plantations.
