Location
At a lock in Bruges/Belgium where I sometimes work.Time
The capture was taken in the evening light.Lighting
I had seen these chicks before, but that moment, the light was as good as it could be to be caught on my sensor. No external lighting, no flash, just the available light.Equipment
All I used, was a Sony RX10III bridge camera. The tilting screen helped me a lot here!Inspiration
I personally am all in favor of low pov shots of animals. But when they appeared on the side of the lock where I was at work, I quicly went to my car to get my camera out and approached them with care and patience, untill I found both the background and forground looked neutral enough to get a good (as possible) bokeh.Editing
I did crop the image to my favorite size, the 16/9 factor. Only sliight adjustments where made to get a natural looking capture. This image was shot in JPG. some slight sharpening was used and I tried my best to get a good lay-out of the cute looking chicks. I believe they are Canadian geeselings. In my camera bag
Normally I take all kinds of Fuji gear with me. Lenses according to the subject I 'm planning to catch... But here, as I was at work, I was lucky to have my spare 'allround' do-it-all camera I tend to leave in the car - just in case ;-)Feedback
Allways have a camera at hand. Keep your eyes open and get your camera settings right for that unexpexted moment that might suddenly happen. Personally I try to shoot low-pov. For me this is the most respectfull and involving kind of style for 'shooting' animals. I have even found, when laying on the ground, the animals are less scared, and in some cases, they come towards me out of curiosity.
