Behind The Lens
Location
Skatepark 'Tempelhof' in Bruges - Belgium.Time
In the middle of the day with harsh light conditions.Lighting
Natural light as I never make use of a flash.Equipment
Most of time I travel light - one of my Fuji mirrorless bodies and a wide lens was used from a short distance.Inspiration
I can't resist getting really close to the action, I want to capture their passion and talents.Editing
I did convert the capture to B&W with Lightroom. Some straightening and a square crop seemed best suitable here.In my camera bag
I try to travel light and adjust to the area and subject I 'm most lightly to photograph. As I have a collection of lenses, I confess it can be hard to choose the right lens. For this type of photography it is indeed a good idea to bring along a body, in this case a mirrorless Fuji, preferred with a flip screen for the special angles.Feedback
I find it is most of all important to show respect and have contact with these guys. One does not want to be an out stander... a nerd wanting to try this... I guess having skated myself helped to start a conversation. Personally I have experienced that a wide lens gives the most interesting results.
