It's a little scary to look at this photo! Perfectly!

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this capture at a street theatre- and arobics festival "Cirque Plus" in Bruges/Belgium.

Time

In the late afternoon, in harsh light conditions.

Lighting

As you can or should imagine, I did not make use of a flash - I would not want to blind anyone. It was a cloudy day but there was plenty of light. If I remember correctly, this image was taken into the (sun)light.

Equipment

Fuji mirrorless X-pro 1 body and a 55-200 Fuji lens. No flash!

Inspiration

The trust, the power and confidence of the artists was really breathtaking.

Editing

I converted the image to B&W in LR. I did my best to keep some details in the cloudy background. I also tried to make the shadows less harsh. Respecting the original but at the same time showing of the muscles of both the guy and the ladies.

In my camera bag

I try not to take too much gear with me as it seems to slow me down. Here a zoom seemd the best option, together with a wide angle lens.

Feedback

Try to get the best possible facial expressions and try to get the background as uncluttered as possible. If there's hardly any color or too much distracting color, one can always opt to go B&W - I find there's a kind of 'less is more' feel to it, while somehow the facial expressions are more present and one caan play with the colors to get the right dynamics.
