Location
Most of my flower photos were taken in my kitchen, also this shot of an iris detail. There I have enough time to try different angles and light. No blowing wind, no insects and no curious neighbours are there while photographing.Time
Mostly I start taking my pictures late in the evening, sometimes even late at night :)Lighting
No flash is used for my flower pics. Only the light under my cupboard in the kitchen is perfect for my ideas and my shots. The black background is not the result of an expansive software. Behind the blossom I positioned a black background, very suitable is a part of an old computer case.Equipment
These are the components of my macro equipment, a LUMIX G81 camera with a LUMIX lense MACRO 30mm / F2.8 ASPH H-HS030. Sure I use a tripod because of very long exposure times, a Rollei M4-Mini and a cable release.Inspiration
Not only at springtime I like to photograph the little things, the colors and details of flowers and blossoms, sometimes like this iris with tiny droplets.Editing
The white balance of the camera is often very helpful for flower photography. I try to minimize postprocessing. But sometimes I also use software like Corel Photo Paint, Perfectly Clear or Raw Therapee to get special effects like for instance a deeper Black in the background.In my camera bag
Mostly there are two lenses (LUMIX G MACRO 30mm / F2.8 ASPH H-HS030 and LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH H-FS14140) in my bag, a cable release, a few filters (grey and polarization), and always ... when it is not in my hands ... the Panasonic G81 camera.Feedback
Make many pictures and keep only the best (but also the originals)! Be creative and try a few different perspectives, details and lights! But please ... be patient, have always pleasure and fun!
