Behind The Lens
Location
It´s a faded blossom of Tragopogon pratensis. I saw it at the edge of an grain field. But the photograph was taken in my kitchen, without curious neighbors and also without blowing wind. I had time to try different angles and light.Time
Mostly I take my pictures late in the evening, sometimes late at dark night :) This one was taken on June 20, 2017.Lighting
For my blossom photographs I don´t use flash. There is only LED light under my cupboard in the kitchen. Behind the blossom I positioned a black background, I tried so many different things. But very suitable for this case and easy to use is a part of an old computer case.Equipment
My camera is a Panasonic Lumix G81. I like my lens for this purpose very much, a LUMIX G MACRO 30mm / F2.8 ASPH H-HS030. Because of very long exposures it is nessecery to use a tripod like Rollei M4-Mini and a wire trigger.Inspiration
Mostly I like to photograph the little things, the colors of flowers and blossoms, sometimes with droplets. A very popular photo subject are dandelions, but the Tragopogon pratensis seeds are greater.Editing
Sometimes I work with software like Corel Photo Paint, Perfectly Clear or Raw Therapee to get special effects. In this case I used Google's Picasa to change the shot into a black and white one, but without the center of the blossom which is original colored. In my camera bag
Mostly there are two lenses (LUMIX G MACRO 30mm / F2.8 ASPH H-HS030 and LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH H-FS14140) in my bag, a wire trigger, a few filters (grey and polarization), and sure ... if not in my hands ... the Panasonic G81.Feedback
Make many pictures, try a few different perspectives, details and lights! And then keep only the best! But please, always with pleasure and fun! Be patient until you are satisfied with the results of your creativity!
