Behind The Lens

Location

Once a year, the so-called Indianapolis in Oerlikon takes place on the racetrack in Zurich. About 40 vintage Race Cars and 20 Motorcycles turn their rounds on the race oval built for cycling.

Time

The photo was taken on 2018 July the 24th at about 18:00.

Lighting

The only source of light was the natural light. It was a very nice summer evening and so we still had a lot of sunshine at 18:00 o'clock. So I had to deal with hard shadows (and a lot of spectator around the cars).

Equipment

For this picture I used my Nikon D850 in combination with my Tamron 28-300mm f3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD Travelzoom. No other gear were used.

Inspiration

That evening was the subject of cars and motorcycles. Between the rides with cars or motorcycles still took place bicycle race. Of course I also took pictures of them too.

Editing

Here I gave the Picture only a vintage look with some manipulations in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

When I photograph Sports I usually use my full format DSLR with a mix of zooms and primes: A 18-35mm, a 45mm, as well the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art and a 70-200mm f4.0.

Feedback

Go to an event like this where you can find a lot of photo motives. Be aware to watch the light and compose your pictures advisedly. And at hte end, maybe do some the post-processing ;-)
