JMT DAY 16 - VALLEY VIEW FROM EVOLUTION LAKE OUTLET AT SUNSET
Valley view from Evolution Lake outlet at sunset
Once I captured the intense glow cast on the ridge towering over Evolution Lake, I quickly turned my camera around and pointed it at the valley itself - Evolution Valley that I had hiked through for hours earlier in the day.
While the Hermit (12,328 ft), to my left, overlooked the valley, both Colby Meadow and my favorite McClure Meadow deep in the bottom of the valley were clearly visible from where I stood. In fact, it was so clear that I could see the reflections of the trees in Evolution Creek snaking through Colby Meadow
Just in time for the dramatic effect, a thin layer of clouds moved in and hovered over the valley. While thinking to myself that I couldn’t have asked for a better timing, I just pressed the trigger. And just like that, the intense sun that had flooded the basin with its glorious glow was now painting every surface that it touched in orange.
Evolution Lake that fell over the cliff and turned into a waterfall looked like hot lava flowing and encroaching onto the valley.
