Location
This photo was taken in the Myakka River State Park near Sarasota, Florida, USA. I was standing at the edge of the waterline on Myakka Lake and captured this sunset image. My main goal was to take photos of the multitude of wading birds that live in the park. This is one of the few images that I captured that had no birds within the frame.Time
I started taking photos about one hour before the sunset. This was one of the last images that I captured before the light eventually disappeared.Lighting
The strong backlight from the setting sun produced silhouettes of the many clumps of rushes that were protruding from the water.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100 and captured the image handheld.Inspiration
This area always has beautiful sunsets. I come her often at the end of the day to capture a variety of scenes with and without clouds.Editing
I added vibrance to the raw image with PhotoshopIn my camera bag
Along with my Nikon D7100, I usually have the 18-140mm Nikkor mounted on the camera for landscapes and the Nikkor 70-300 on standby for bird shots.Feedback
Sunsets with clouds are always much more dramatic.
