Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in New Braunfels, Texas at a local coffee shop on a dreary, rainy, August day.Time
We got this shot at 3:24PM. Because it was cloudy and raining it had no effect on lighting.Lighting
I liked the idea of getting reflections on the glass with the raindrops. It gave a double exposure look to my photo. I found that if I took the photo at just the right angle you could see both the lights behind me as well as the lights inside the coffee shop. Those lights combined with the fact that there was no harsh sunlight that day helped create the photo you see.Equipment
This photo was shot using a Nikon D7200 with a Sigma 17-70mm lens. No additional equipment was used.Inspiration
I was inspired by a few things or rather people. My friend in this photo helped inspire me by suggesting that her and I collaborate on a project. I'm still not totally comfortable when photographing people and she knew that. She challenged me to grow. Honestly, I am also inspired daily by the photographers here on ViewBug. They are constantly coming up with so many creative ideas.Editing
The only post-processing I did was increasing the contrast to make the colors deeper and adding a subtle glow effect. In my camera bag
The equipment you would find in my camera bag is my Nikon D7200, Sigma 17-70mm lens, Tamron 100-400mm lens and two batteries.Feedback
If you wish to capture something similar I suggest trying on a cloudy day. By shooting on a cloudy day the lighting will be more even. I would also recommend that the window you are shooting into has good reflections on it. Make sure what is behind you won't distract to much from your main subject (the model).
