Sand Dunes and Star Trails. Waiting for the Milky Way to rise is the perfect time to get some star trail shots. For this image, I found the leading lines I wanted and set up the tripod. The foreground was taken during golden hour and did not move. I waited until astronomical twilight to start the timer to get the star movement in the sky. When you have an exposure or two with proper foreground lighting and then stack in @photoshop, that properly balanced exposure will even out the final merged image, giving you a well illuminated foreground and the movement of the stars in the sky over the course of the time you capture your star trails. The key is that the tripod and camera NEVER move. There were quite a few airplanes flying overhead this night so I corrected them in each frame before stacking.
