Behind The Lens
Location
We captured this image in the forest in Ditmer MO. It was a brisk fall day with clear skies.Time
The air was cool and crisp in the early afternoon. We started shooting at about 1 pm and finished by 3 pm. With the sun lowering it was just too cool to shoot mostly uncovered.Lighting
There were many shadows provided by the sun and trees. To bring drama to the image a speed light illuminates the models face.Equipment
I prefer to travel light with a Canon body and a few lenses. In this case, we carried armloads of stuff we really didn't need. It was great fun to shoot whimsical and sometimes dark images with Elini in the woods.Inspiration
Eleni is my muse. We talk at great lengths about shoot concepts and locations. This spot in the woods was special to her. She desired to make art at this place. We had a few rough concept before we walked in, but mostly we let the moment take us where it wanted.Editing
Lightroom is my post-processing tool. For this image, I chose to remove the color and increase the contrast. In my camera bag
I pack my Canon 5d M4 and backup body for almost all shoots. The lenses are selected by the shooting conditions and desired effects. If it is lower light, I pack my fastest lenses. If shooting from a distance, they will be longer. I like to always have a second method to capture the desired shot. Equipment malfunctions and accidents happen. A backup is a must.Feedback
