Kendra cover in poured latex enamel paint. The paint is prepared in red solo cups by layering and lightly mixing the vibrant colors. After the pose and lighting are set, the pouring begins. Several dozens shutter snaps in just a minute or two as the paint slides down the model.

Location
This photo was captured in the studio of Zach Smithey, an interdisciplinary artist based in St. Louis. During a previous shoot in his space, I inquired if he had ever painted a person. The idea s born.Time
We, three artists, met in the afternoon to model paint, and create photographs. The studio was a converted office building.Lighting
Paul C Buff Alien bees were configured in Key, fill, and background.Equipment
The image was captured with Canon 7d, basic light stands, and umbrellas, and a few cups filled with paint.Inspiration
I am driven to create art the features people. While visiting Zach's studio I was inspired by his unique style of creating art with poured paint that drips down the canvas or sculpture. The next logical step was to paint a person. We were so excited to create this image, we did not think quite far enough ahead. When the shooting was complete and the model was covered with paint, we scrambled to find additional clean-up materials. Fortunately, we had a giant spool of cloth Zach was using for another art project.Editing
Post-processing is limited in this shot. The vibrance was boosted. The colors speak for themselves. In my camera bag
My equipment bag varies with the goal of the shoot. It could be a single body and lens or a collection of tools to leverage. Most often it is the two bodies and the trinity of L-glass lenses.Feedback
Study the rules of composition, but don't hesitate to break them.
