Awosting Waterfall is one of the many gems located in Minnewaska State Park Preserve. With a 60-foot drop, Awosting is one of the tallest waterfall in the park and one of the most scenic, especially in the wintertime. The source of the water comes from Awosting Lake which flows into Peters Kill creek. Over thousands of years, water and the glacier movements formed the curved, yet sharp walls near the waterfall. If you follow the creek, there are hidden waterfalls along the way. This includes the hidden Sheldon Falls. Even in the dead of winter, New York is quite magical.
