The Thousand Islands is an archipelago that stretches 50 miles across the Saint Lawrence River. The river bifurcate the islands between New York and Ontario, Canada. Although the area is called the Thousand Islands, there are actually 1,864 islands. Land that is at least 1 square foot above water and supporting two trees is considered to be an island. While it would be difficult to see all the islands, one sure way to get the maximum experience there is to take a guided boat tour. You won’t regret it!

One tidbit is that the Thousand Island Dressing comes from this area. There are multiple versions of the story, but let a local tell it to you!
