Watkins Glen is a beautiful state park located in the Finger Lakes region. The name Watkins comes from Dr. Samuel Watkins who contributed to the community. The park features a stream that cuts through the shale rocks forming the gorge. Shale rocks tend to be weak, which allows glaciers and water to cut through them and make the park what it is today. There are 3 relatively easy trails to hike around this park and 19 waterfalls along the way. People who walk through the park often say it is spell bounding. There's a reason why it is considered to be one of the most beautiful State Parks in the US!
