Location
i took this photograph in one of my most favourite cities on this planet: Prague in the Czech Republic. It is an extraordinary city with amazing people, jaw dropping architecture and powerful history. Perhaps more importantly, Prague has its own "Louvre". ;-)Time
I think I took this particular photograph in the morning (i had to check the EXIF info). It was a reasonably bright and crisp October morning in Prague. The morning was imbued with that crispness in the air that tells you winter is not far away.Lighting
As I said, the day was bright and crisp. Being in an elevated position looking down on the river itself afforded me the opportunity to capture all the brightness reflecting off the bridges and the water. Moreover, I think this brightness was accentuated by the brightly coloured building facades, a trademark architectural characteristic in Prague.Equipment
I used my trusty Canon EOS 1000D and my telephoto lens (70-300mm).Inspiration
I have been to Prague numerous times and everytime I visit, I continue to explore and discover (with the help of friends and family) new locations. On this particular day, I found myself in a new location (the grounds of an old stately/royal home) and it provided an outstanding vantage point over Prague itself. Seeing Prague, almost like a fairy tale city with its colourful building facades, the bridges and the river in all its October splendour was too good an opportunity to pass up.Editing
Ah yes. Due to my amateurish efforts at the time, I figured I would try and enhance it using a filter provided by the software suite Creative Kit. Normally, I wouldn't do this in these circumstances now however, in my defence, I was only just starting to make progress in the realm of photography when I took this photo. In my camera bag
As most of you know, I carry my Canon EOS 1000D with the standard kit lens (18-55mm) plus my favourite telephoto Canon lens (70-300mm). Additionally, I carry a vellbron tripod (grrr), peripherals for my iphone (olio lenses etc), batteries, memory cards, cables and possibly some water and a snack. Currently, I am contemplating how to pack in another camera (Canon Powershot SX with dedicated macro lenses) which I picked up for dirt cheap from a charity shop. I also carry some hope, a little luck and the inspiration drawn from all the amazing people on Viewbug.Feedback
Well, I can only stress that you explore. Be curious. Allow your head to get into that mindset where you see the world differently. You cannot rush this transition so be happy in your patience. Once you are in that "zone", time slows down and you should experience a re-connect to your creativity enabling you to see a cornucopia of visual treasure. And that's not a bad thing, is it? Have fun and you might discover you have taken something quite special. Good luck to all of you!
