Location
This photo was taken at Horseshoe Bend, near Page, Arizona.Time
It was taken at 5:40pm on November 16th of 2017.Lighting
Horseshoe Bend is a beautiful place, but also not easy to photograph because most of the times you have a lot of shadows and highlights due to the depth of the canyon (around 1000ft on the deepest part) the sun normally sets behind it too depending of the time of the year, that makes it more difficult, this particular day was a little overcast and there were some clouds as well, that helped a lot to bring more even light to the bottom of the canyon, some sunlight was filtering through the clouds and that also gave some rays of light that you can see in the picture.Equipment
For this photo i used my canon 5DMkIII and a 17-40mm F4 at 19mm, the camera was on a Manfrotto 055 with a Sirui ballhead, the remote control is a Viltrox JY-710RX that has worked for me very well, it has great range and the battery life is amazing. I normally carry 2 bodies and multiple lenses, 2 tripods etc on my Lowepro Pro Tactic 450 AW when i'm out exploring.Inspiration
The place inspired me, its not complicated, its stunning. Though, you have to go see it, the photos can't capture the magnificence of the place.Editing
I did a little, it was beautiful out of the camera but I did darken some highlights and lifted some shadows a tiny bit.In my camera bag
wow well it depends on what i'm doing, in this case kicking in Arizona and Utah I had my Lowepro Pro Tactic 450 AW loaded with stuff, 2 Canon 5DmkIII bodies, 17-40mm F4, 24-70mm F2.8, 24-105 F4, 70-200mm F2.8, 50mm F1.4, 15mm fisheye F2.8, 2 manfrotto tripods 055 & 190X, remote shutter release, Nisi ND filters, CPL filters, Canon 600EX flash, laptop, pelican card cases, CF and SD cards, 8x extra canon batteries, maybe i'm missing a couple of things.Feedback
GO, you have to. Chose wisely the time of the year you go and the time of the day (summer is crazy crowded) bring water and sunscreen, hat, sweatshirt (I went in November) tripod, a wide lens and patience.
