Location
This photo is a composition from two shoots on the same day: one in my studio, the second underwater in a pool. The model (Aria Rainbow, @ariarainbow) did a great job!Time
We met in the studio in the afternoon and moved on to the pool in the evening. As the light was controlled by flashes, the time of the day did not really matter.Lighting
Studio flashes were used for the "dry" part of the shoot, underwater flashes (Inon 2000) underwater. I tried to match the light sources to achieve a credible result.Equipment
In the studio, I typically use a Nikon D800 and either Godox QT600 or Jinbei HD600 flashes. However, as I knew I'd be using a Nikon D3300 with a kit 18-55mm lens underwater, I used the same gear in the studio. Underwater I used the D3300 in a soft housing with a manual flash attached, which triggered the underwater flashes (Inon 2000).Inspiration
I love surreal images; The combination of above- and underwater-photography gets you there.Editing
Obviously, I combined three photos (the photo on the wall in the background is also from the underwater session). I added the frames, corrected the walls, etc.In my camera bag
It really depends on the shoot (studio, beach, pool...). I don't think the gear matters too much, it's more in what you do with it.Feedback
Try to keep the light and the perspective similar. If it doesn't match, the picture won't work and its almost impossible to fix in post. Have fun!
