It was early April and the sun was close to setting on my drive back from Denali NP, Alaska. The wind was blowing across one of the mountain tops so strongly that it blew ice crystals off its face and into the air creating a temporary cloud. Much of it fell back to the earth in the turbulence created as it passed over the mountain’s summit while the lighter particles remained aloft. While this event was occurring the angle of the sun was such as to cast a shadow behind the mountain that appeared as a straight line across much of the sky. One of the things I love about the out-of-doors and nature in general is the seemingly unending number of surprises
