Its beauty didn’t die with it
On my way back to the trailhead, I spotted this gorgeous snag off the trail. This dead tree exhibiting the remaining shell of inner bark must have been a victim of forest fire a while ago, as if it were a piece of sculpture. I loved the shape of the shell spiraling upward as though it was how it protected itself from the inevitable force that eventually engulfed it and left nothing but the shell behind. And it was part of the past, and yet it still stands as if its beauty didn’t die with it.
