Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a bike path in western Massachusetts.

Time

It was pretty early in the morning, about 6:00 a.m. or so. Generally the bike path (or rail trail as it's referred to) is pretty busy, but that early in the morning travelers are few.

Lighting

I was pretty lucky with the early morning light. It shone on the area the runner was on, but left a good part of the frame in shadow, lending a feeling of solitude to the photo.

Equipment

Taken with a Nikon D7200, using an 18 - 200 zoom. I should probably mention that I had a Siberian Husky on a leash as well! Getting a photo like this was really fortunate!

Inspiration

If I have a camera with me, I take photos! I was hoping to see a runner around this spot, and fate was with me. I was actually out walking the dog, and couldn't hang around to wait, so the timing of this runner was fortuitous.

Editing

Not too much processing on this one. a look at levels and some sharpening was all.

In my camera bag

I don't generally carry a bag, but generally shoot with a Nikon D750, using a 24 - 120 zoom. I travel lightly and keep it handy. When I'm setting out for a particular purpose I'll adjust what I keep on me, especially a polarizing or ND filter.

Feedback

Be ready to actually shoot what you're looking for, and have your camera settings adjusted for the subject you're trying to capture!
