Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at in front of my front room window

Time

It was taken in the afternoon when the sun was shining in from the west.

Lighting

Lighting was diffused window light with black foam core to on the side to take away any highlights and shine

Equipment

I used a Sigma 105 macro lens with a Nikon D600 camera on a tripod. I had the diffuser section of a reflector against the window and black foam core to the side

Inspiration

I enjoy taking photos of beautiful looking deserts with hopes that they take as good as they look. My inspiration is when I see something very appealing in the bakery and bring it home to photograph before eating.

Editing

I used Lightroom for all my editing and I play around with the sliders until I get a result that I like. A little contrast, taking down highlights and opening up shadows. Very little else is used in my post processing and try hard to get it as close to right in camera as I can.

In my camera bag

I have two cameras in my bag a Nikon D600 and D750. The D750 has the Nikon 24-70 lens on it 75% of the time the rest of the time is split between my next most used lens Nikon 70-200 f2.8 and the other lenses in my kit that include a recently purchased Sigma 150-600, my Sigma 105 macro lens, 2 primes (Nikon 50 and 85) and a Tokina 11-16 for my wide angle shots. My D600 is now my backup camera and also used in crop mode for my wide angle shots. I have 2 Nikon SB800 flashes

Feedback

To capture a similar shot I suggest a natural bright diffused light using a tripod and moving around the subject to get an angle and the light that you are happy with.
