Walking in a local park on the shortest day of the year I went down what, for me, was a new trail. The outline of a decayed tree caught my attention. Then I saw the sun, so bleak behind the branches. The sun and the tree came into a visual relationship that I found powerful. Usually I really enjoy the colors in my shots, but the starkness of this image speaks of the shortest day. The sun was contained. And I was happy to have somehow captured it.
