Location
I was on a routine "outdoor fashion" style shoot when we came across this stunning field of ox-eye daisies. We tried some more traditional shots in the 'girl among the flowers' style, but as soon as the sun came out we both realised that it just had to be artnude. A little later she produced the silver wings out of her bag and we explored how the sun reflected off the fabric.Time
I made this image around midday in a completely open field. The weather was warm with a few beautiful clouds. Unbelievably, was able to shoot the girl nude for quite some time right next to a public footpath. Only when we were packing up did we see any passers by.Lighting
Sunlight! It may be 93 million miles away but the sun makes the most beautiful light at any time of day. This was at midday. If I did this shoot again I might aim for early morning or late afternoon when the sun hangs lower in the sky as produces the kind of light I like best.Equipment
I took this image using my little Lumix GX7 with a basic 12-60mm lens. No flash, no tripod, just a little hand held simplicity.Inspiration
What inspired me? A beautiful day with the sun shining through cotton wool clouds? An amazing field with flowers stretching out as far as the eye could see? A beautiful girl just itching to get undressed and pose like the Earth Goddess herself? Well I don't know. :)Editing
I tend to only do very minimal post processing. For this one a little boost on the vibrance. Then a crop into the square shape because I liked the composition around the rule of thirds this way.In my camera bag
I like to travel light so I've used Lumix mirrorless micro four thirds cameras for a few years. This was taken on the very small but light GX7 although now I use a GX8 with the slightly heavier Olympus Pro lenses. I usually carry a standard lens and a zoom lens but not much else. A few spare batteries and an SD card. Because there's space in my bag I usually carry a packet of mints, a sandwich and a bottle of water. I like to travel light and travel far!Feedback
Take the opportunity, take the image. With all the plans in the world you sometimes see something better than you ever imagined. Simplicity and spontaneity often work better than complicated and contrived set ups. Enjoy what you're doing and have fun playing with ideas and camera settings.
