Thank you! This is the first photo I posted here and has always been one of my favourites. :)

Location
This photo was taken at the small harbour at Pyramiden, Svalbard. Pyramiden is a deserted Russian mining town, deep in the Arctic, that can only be reached by boat. So far North, and so far from any town, the air here was so fresh and clear. Ideal for photography.Time
At this time of year, late July, on Svalbard the day is 24 hours long. Not good for sunsets or sunrises, but perfect for everything else!Lighting
Natural light. No wind, light cloud. This is nature. The calmness and tranquility is nature. The light reflected from the glacier gave everything a soft glow, even from a few miles away. Why try and better it?Equipment
The camera I used is a micro-fourthirds Lumix GX1 with a Olympus 14-150mm lens. A lovely and light camera that packs a massive punch. Hand held.Inspiration
I had just taken a tour of Pyramiden with a small group of visitors. I'd seen the deserted houses and concert hall, swimming pool and gym, statues of Marx and the old mine buildings stretching up the mountainsides. Reluctant to board the boat, I hung back from the others and saw this, my perfect shot. Snap. That was it!Editing
Nothing. This was a vision. This was nature speaking to me. I felt far to humbled to even think of trying to improve on it.In my camera bag
I've used Lumix micro fourthirds cameras for a few years now and have always enjoyed the way all the features and quality of a large DSLR can be packed into a such a small, handy body. I'm onto a Lumix GX7 at the moment. In my bag I have a Lumix 14-45mm lens and an Olympus 75-300mm lens. But my standard is the very versatile 14-150mm lens. Perfect for almost everything. After that: polarising filters, 2 spare batteries, spare SD card, packet of extra strong mints, packet of biscuits, bottle of water, phone, wallet... etc etc...With a small, but powerful, camera there's always plenty of room in my bag!Feedback
Look at everything. Be scared of nothing. Enjoy what you see. Take several similar shots to compare angles and differences in light. Don't believe that everything can be improved by post-processing. Enjoy the moment, the world is beautiful! :)
