Each year the Arctic tern flies from its summer summer breeding grounds in the Arctic and Subarctic regions, including near our house, to its summer home off the Antarctic returning back again in their fall. One radio-collared Arctic tern was found to have traveled 44,000 miles (71,000 km), making it the longest known migration of any animal.
