Behind The Lens

Location

This is one of my favorites from the many pictures that I took during the 2017 Arm Force Day Parade. I was waiting in front of where used to be the Burnett Gallery (of Fine Arts, between 4th and 5th Street on the Pacific Avenue in downtown of Bremerton WA) .

Time

It was late morning but not noon time yet.

Lighting

The bright sun was positioned almost high noon and lite the streets strongly even in between tall buildings.

Equipment

I just received the Nikon D600 and attached it with my favorite Sigma 300mm F4 telephoto. I also threaded a UV filter on my lens mainly for physical protection of the front optic.

Inspiration

I wanted an interesting photo of the Burnett Gallery for keepsake because most businesses comes and goes in downtown Bremerton. And, I figure the Arm Force Parade would be the most opportunistic time to capture interesting occurrences.

Editing

I strive for just enough (minimum) post-processing to correct my intentional under exposure done for the safeguard of details in those pesky highlights that always pops up where and when I least expected.

In my camera bag

Did not bring a bag. And wished I did because the 300mm telephoto was sometimes too "long" for capturing a parade in the smaller streets (of Bremerton as compared to Seattle). If I had my bag I would had one of my many vintage 70-210mm telephotos ( Nikon E-series or Vivitar Series-1).

Feedback

Bottom line is that photography ought be fun. And I did enjoyed the moments while I was taking the pictures, too. And I would had even more fun, if I had carried a zoom lens or at least another lens of smaller focal length.
