This old burnt snag with the window was a fixture for years until someone ripped it off this year( I mean it literally). When I took this picture I decided that i would slant the frame so the elements of snag and fir tree would create an interesting pattern rather than force the frame to conform to the upright trees. We often ignore the importance of the frame to which all the elements within relate. Now, there are times when the mental frame i place around a subject does not conform to the viewfinder edges and then I will simply include all the elements i wish to work with within the viewfinder and later crop to what i want. Framing like this is central to making photographs.
