Location
I took this picture in a studio in San Leandro California.Time
Mid-afternoon. Since it was a studio, time of day does not matter. However the model had recently had a lunch break and was relaxed in her work.Lighting
This picture used bodyscape lighting from one 15degree 4' long grid box off to the photographer's right. Background was a black wall.Equipment
I used a Sony camera with a 24-70mm lensInspiration
I wanted to play with fingers coming out of hair. The look of her face on this picture I found haunting and beautiful.Editing
Post processing was limited to conversion to BW with Nik Silver Effect ProIn my camera bag
When shooting in a studio I normally bring just what I need: camera, lens, maybe one specialized lens, extra batteries, extra SD cards, lens cleaning equipment. I also often bring a bag or so of props but that wasn't needed for this picture.Feedback
Work with the model! Get to know her, get her trust by talking to her about what you are trying to do. Let her see the results on the back of the camera frequently. And send her copies of the best pictures of the shoot as soon as you can (with in a week max). Build trust and the next time you work with that model the results will probably be even better.
