This photo was taken during my trip to Masai Mara, Kenya. I was hoping to get a shot of Cheetah with kill and was on the look out for any opportunity for such a shot. While we were on one of the safari trips, we received a notification that there was a Cheetah and her cub roaming near a heard of Thomson's Gazelle. We waited for around an hour and still did not see any action. Then we saw a black-backed Jackal approaching very close to the Cheetah cub and when it approached too close, the mother lost cool and chased it away. It was this moment that gave us the opportunity to make this image.Time
It was taken around noon time and although not ideal for photography, it was an opportunity for us to grab any high speed action shots of Cheetah.Lighting
The lighting conditions of the shot were not a bit harsh as it was almost close to noon time. Capturing the Cheetah in action required high shutter speed and this was perfectly ok due to the available light.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark 3 and Canon EF 500mm F4 IS II hand held to shoot this image. Since the action was very fast and moving in random directions, it was ideal to take the shot handheld.Inspiration
It was always a dream to take image of a Cheetah in action and this was a dream come true for me.Editing
Some basic corrections to exposure and some shadow recovery was done to improve the image as it was taken almost close to noon time.In my camera bag

Be patient and wait for the action to happen in order to capture the best wildlife images. Study the animal or bird behaviour to predict the next possible move or action so that we can be prepared for the perfect shot or for the perfect moment. Enjoy the scene also while taking the image.
