Something that I couldn’t take my eyes off of

After returning from the short excursion to the lower Hitchcock Lake, we had an early dinner and got ready to go to bed. In order to save time in packing our stuff up at midnight when we get up to start our full moon hike to summit Mt. Whitney, we didn’t even pitch our tents. The sun wasn’t even set when I lied in my sleeping bag, which made it quite difficult to fall asleep. Of course, it was too early anyway, but also the anticipation of the midnight ascent didn’t help either. From one of the small lakes, more like a pond, where we camped, the tallest peak in the contiguous United States, once called Fisherman’s Peak by the three fishermen who conquered it for the first time ever recorded, was just a quick head turn away. The reflection of this granite formed, dome-shaped mountain in the water was definitely something that I couldn’t take my eyes off of.
