A not unusual view of a pretty unspectacular mountain in grey conditions in central Vancouver Island. So how can this compete? Because it is not the subject alone that makes a photograph, or spectacular lighting effects or edgy angles or super equipment. Here is the essence of place supported by downward curves - the mountain outline, the cedar branches and the line between the tree tips that echo the curves of the mountain. Unity of expression.
