I really like the composition on this one. I just wish the girl in the middle was holding some sort of pose and not just standing there.

Location
A few years ago, I did a long-term photography project at Harrisonburg High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I am a teacher there and got permission to go out and shoot before and after school and during my planning. Period. The project was challenging because I wanted the subjects to be the teachers and the institution and not be able to identify the students individually. This photo was taken in dance class.Time
I really enjoyed photographing the dance classes, they had so much movement and energy. I also loved the contrasts of the light and the open space.Lighting
This was the lighting on the stage, I didn't use any additional lighting.Equipment
Sony A56 35mm 1.8 lens. I did not use a flash or tripod. I was so happy how this turned out, especially being hand held.Inspiration
I wanted to capture the movement of the dancers, who were moving across stage and leaping in front of the teacher.Editing
The only post processing for this was to convert to black and white and increase the sharpness and contrast.In my camera bag
I now use a Sony A99V, but also have a 35MM Minolta and my Instax. I love to shoot with my 35mm and 55mm prime lenses, I love the shallow depth of field.Feedback
Find a stationary object surrounded by moving objects and hold really still :)
