Well I have been looking for an opportunity to take a shot similar to this. Love it!!
See all

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Avalon Pier in the Outer Banks of North Carolina

Time

This was taken a little before sunset.

Lighting

I waited until a little before sunset and took the shot with natural light so I could do a timed exposure without blowing it out.

Equipment

Sony A99V Camera with Tripod, Sigma 18-35mm art lens.

Inspiration

I have always loved timed exposures of moving water, the ethereal look of the water as it takes on the appearance of clouds or glass.

Editing

I converted the photo to black and white.

In my camera bag

I always have my Sony A99 and a variety of lenses. I also like to shoot film, so I have a Minolta XG-7 35 mm.

Feedback

Be patient, prepare for people to walk through and disrupt the shot. A good shot is worth waiting for.
