Location
These are old mill ruins that are about an hour hike into the gatineau hills from the parking lot. Lots of ups and downs and around the mill are a lot of rocks.Time
This was taken later in the day on an overcast day. Autumn is my most favourite time of year to get out for photos.Lighting
The lighting was not the best naturally so I created mood in post processing. I did leave the shutter open for a bit to allow more light in.Equipment
At the time I had a t3i and kit lens. A very old manfrotto beast and my first toy, remote. This allowed me to test the bulb setting. It was fun and very satisfying.Inspiration
It is a very well photographed locla area so of course I had to have it on my list. That being said, there are always a lot of people there with their own equipment, friends, cell phones, etc. Getting a shot with no one in it can be challenging.Editing
The conditions were not great so in post, I went moody. It suited the scene in my opinion. In my camera bag
At the time I only had the t3i, basic kit lens, remote and flash. So I carried it all.Feedback
Patience, good shoes and a willingness to walk. Play around in photoshop and see what looks good to you. Some 'wastes' shots can be saved with a little creativity.
