AfternoonLighting
The lighting was from the zoo's custom built vivarium, which is set up to imitate the natural lighting found in this reptiles natural habitat. I did not use any other lighting to capture this image.Equipment
Canon Rebel T2i with a Canon 55-250mm efs lens.Inspiration
I love the lighting along with the colour of the snake and it's environment within the vivarium.Editing
The only post processing I did is to adjust the gamma to remove the digital fog (grey/white cast) that digital cameras leave over the top of a photograph. Nothing else needed to be done.In my camera bag
Canon Rebel T2i, Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 18-55mm efs, Canon 55-250mm efs, Sigma 17-35mm EX, Sigma 150-600mm contemporary lens, Gopro hero 3 black edition, spare Gopro battery, Gopro accessories, Jessops 645AF flash unit, Cokin P series filter holder, 3 graduated ND filters, 2 ND filters, a third party digital remote release, 2 spare camera batteries, AA and AAA batteries and charger, 2 memory cards, binoculars, hot shoe converter, cleaning cloths, Leathermans multi tool, head torch, RSPB bird identity book, British wildlife identity book, lens hoods, weather proof camera cover.Feedback
Photograph anything that catches your eye that you think might have potential. Look at the lighting and see how you can use it to the photographs advantage. Composition is also very important part of a photograph and I have placed the snakes head slightly off centre to the left of the image but making sure that it is seen as the main subject of the image. Vibrant colours always make a photograph stand out, so if you find a subject with aesthetically pleasing colours, definitely photograph it and you can't go wrong.
