Location
This photo was taken in Serbia from one of the bridges over the Nisava RiverTime
We were on our to Budapest and had just stopped for a quick bite in the early afternoon, probably around 2pmLighting
There was nothing too noteworthy about the lightning. Only natural light and due to the angle I was shooting as well as the muddy waters I got this natural bluish greenish hueEquipment
For this I was using my entry level Sony A330 camera with the kit lensInspiration
I've always loved minimalism as a movement and as a way to tell a short story in the simplest way possible. Since I'm still an amateur I try to rely more on the composition in my photos. So when I saw the single boat in the huge river I thought that I might be able to take a quick shot or two. I ended waiting for it to come as close to my position as possible to minimize the shooting angle and to exactly on top of the fishermanEditing
I have very limited resources so my pc can hardly handle anything more than a bit of a color adjustment and cropping. In my camera bag
I've been trying recelty to get out of my comfort zone and have a go at portrait photography. So to do that, apart from my nikon d5300 I'm carrying only my 50mm f 1.8d lens. I've been also experimenting with a couple of nd filters but so far with mixed results :)Feedback
To be honest I find it a bit hard to recommend something that is not already a cliche. Keep an open mind about what kind of emotions are to trying to show in your photography. Solitude is always present on my end so a single person in a huge river was just begging for a picture. Never be afraid to crop as much as its needed. As I mentioned my equipment and knowledge in the technical stuff is still far from where I want it to be so I try to focus on composition. Crop, rotate, play with the angles. For this specific photo, there were probably 6 or 7 additional versions in black and white, wider crop etc.
