BMX Dipping

Taken at Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre during the Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride in the late 1980's, the exact year I'm unsure.

I participated in the bike ride (a large annual charity event) on three separate occasions - two in the late 80's, one in the early 90's - where I completed the 50 miles route; this photograph was taken with the 35mm film camera I was carrying at the time during either my first or second participation of the ride.

I remember that after I had completed the route, returning to Holme Pierrepont, I noticed these guys who were taking turns charging up the ramp on their BMXs then letting go of their bikes and landing in the water. I sat and waited with the camera ready to try and grab that perfect moment when they were mid air and just letting go; this was my best shot of the bunch. One of my proudest photography moments - and I was still relatively new to photography back then.
