Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in the Shinto shrine in Inari. Now it is a district of Kyoto. The shrine is famous by numerous torii (gates that are in the picture and people come there to walk through them. Lots of people go back and forth and it was a tricky task to catch a moment when no people where in the scene so I had to wait for about 15 minutes to take this picture.

Time

It was the middle of the day.

Lighting

At one hand middle of the day is the worst time for shooting, however the rows of torii create the shade that softens the light.

Equipment

Nikon D800E with 28-105 Nikkor lens.

Inspiration

This is a very popular Japanese scene and many people take such pictures. I just wanted to take mine.

Editing

No post-processing but minor brightness/contrast adjustment.

In my camera bag

I always have my Nikon D800E with standard Nikkor 28-105 lens. Also I usually carry Voigtländer 40mm, Tamron 15-30 and Sigma 70-300.

Feedback

Nothing much special. Just keep your eyes open and be patient. :)
