Location
The Photo was taken at my local zoo. Paignton Devon in the UK on a day out with my partner and Granddaughter. On a bright summers day.Time
It was taken about midday just as we were passing the parrot house. The lighting was a bit of a challenge a mixture of bright sunlight and the artificial light in the bird houseLighting
The light was very bright being midday. The light was a mixture between bright sunlight and the artificial light that was on in the bird house. The shot was also taken through a fence which I managed to focus through.Equipment
Canon 7D Mk11 with a Sigma 18-250 lens hand held with the following settings aperture 18/1 ISO 1000 shutter 1/320 focal length 250/1 in AV modeInspiration
The noise he was making as we walked passed made me turn around to see this big blue parrot. Just could not walk past and not take a photo.Editing
The only post processing was to slightly crop the imageIn my camera bag
The main bits in my bag are my Canon 7D Mk11 a Sigma DC 18-250 lens which is my go to walkabout lens. I then put in a lens to suit the type of shot that I am going out to capture it could be anything from a Canon 10-18 efs to a sigma 150-600 sport. As well as the usual spare batteries and cleaning equipment.Feedback
Whilst a Zoo is a great place to capture all types of exotic animals you need to be aware of the different lighting in certain enclosures. Also to be aware of fences and railings that will be between you and your subject. So always make sure you have a good tele photo lens so as the fences can be focused out. Always keep your eyes open as you will never know when the next opportunity will arise for the next shot
