Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken ay Cyprus zoo in May 2016 whilst on Holiday

Time

This was taken around 2.30pm on a bright sunny day. The tiger was on the prowl just inside the enclosure

Lighting

The sun was bright for the time of day. This part of the enclosure was in partial shade. I had to focus through a chain mail fence. So had to keep the lens wide open, focus it out of the shoot.

Equipment

This was taken hand held with a Canon 40D with a Sigma 70-300 lens

Inspiration

Just the fact that the Tiger was active and on the prowl. One of many shots of the animals in the zoo that day

Editing

The only post-processing I tend to do is, a little cropping if needed. Also just to add a watermark. I have been known just to make a few auto adjustments in Adobe elements 12. But normally post SOC

In my camera bag

The main thing that is always in my bag, is my trusty Canon7D MKii. My general walk around lens is Sigma DC 18-250. These two are always in my bag. Depending on what I am going to shot my other lens could be from a Canon 50mm prime through to a Sigma 1500-600. I have quite a few to choose from. Also keep all the usual bits and pieces, cleaning cloth, spare batteries, memory cards. Note pad and pencil to take notes along with a torch in case I over stay my planned time.

Feedback

This was taken in a zoo probably the best place for some people to shot animals. Before going to your chosen Zoo do some home work. Find out feeding and animal show times, if there are any special animal experiences due. All These make for good opportunities for a great shot. Always keep your camera at the ready as you never know when the perfect shot will pop in front of you. Don't forget to have fun.
