Behind The Lens

Location

In my backyard on the side of my garage.

Time

This was late afternoon/early evening. I'd just gotten home from work and seen this huge dandelion (later found out was Salsify) along side our garage.

Lighting

The lighting was perfect it was overcast so no bleaching from the sun.

Equipment

Canon EOS 70D and my Canon 60mm macro lens.

Inspiration

Seeing this unique plant along side of our garage I saw an opportunity to take some unique macro shots and couldn't pass it up so I quickly grabbed my camera and took the shots I got. Thankfully I did this because the next day my partner went and mowed it all down.

Editing

I always do some slight editing of my photos in Adobe Lightroom. I love this program! It really simplifies my ability to get my photos just right without spending nearly as many hours editing photos.

In my camera bag

My Canon 60 mm macro lens, standard Canon 18-55 mm zoom lens and my Canon 75-300 mm USM lens. They all have their perks, but the 60 mm prime lens is my favorite as it has amazing clarity. I hope to save up and get a couple more prime lens to have in the future.

Feedback

Anytime you see something you want to get a shot of don't pass up that opportunity thinking that you can capture it later. You just never know if you will have that opportunity again. Sometimes it is also good just to enjoy the moment. As a photographer I know I feel like every beautiful moment needs to be captured, but sometimes I just have to breathe deep and enjoy what is in front of me and not worry about whether I'm able to capture it on a camera or not. I love to share so that is really hard to do, but sometimes it is necessary to enjoy the little moments.
