Location
Avon bottoms nature preserve on the Wisconsin and Illinois border.Time
It was mid afternoon in July.Lighting
It was an excellent overcast day so perfect to get the right pop of summer colors!Equipment
Canon T3 with my Canon 75-300mm zoom lensInspiration
My son and I were out looking for butterflies and wild flowers and found this awesome little spot. When I spotted this beautiful butterfly I followed it around snapping away as my son tried to keep up with me.Editing
These shots turned out so well that I had very little adjustment to make to the color or lighting. In my camera bag
I always keep a variety of lens (60mm and standard 18-55mm along with my 75-300mm) so I'm prepared for any shooting situation. I also make sure to have a couple backup batteries and extra memory cards. It is always good to have my little cleaning brushes and micro fibers as well.Feedback
Make sure to have your shutter speed set higher when trying to capture something like a butterfly. They move so fast and hardly stay in one one spot to capture the perfect shot. Also make sure to have your camera on multi-shot so you can continuously snap photos without any camera pause. The more photos you take the more likely you will find the shot you want when it comes to these fast moving insects!
