Location
This was taken at Marina Bay in Singapore near the ferry station opposite the MBS Hotel.Time
This was about 7pm during the daily Laser show.Lighting
This was obviously all done using the natural light and artificial lights in the sceneEquipment
Camera was my Nikon 610. The lens was my 24 - 300m Nikon kit lens which i use a lot when travelling. Tripod and remote trigger was used. This is a bracketed image of 3 shots -2.0 EV to +2.0EV in this case to give a large change in shutter speed so that I could capture the Lasers but also a longer exposure for the Ferry. The correct exposure was to get the lights in the Hotel and Shops to be correctly exposed so I shot in ManualInspiration
I just love to take city night scenes and had visited the city 2 years earlier with my wife and watched the laser show from the other side of the Harbour like most people do. When i returned for business I thought I would go to the other side of the harbour to capture the light show.Editing
I imported the images into Photoshop the 3 bracketed images as 3 layers. I then blended then by using a mask and brushed in the areas that i wanted. i.e the long exposure for the Ferry blur and the sky with the lasers. In my camera bag
My Nikon D610 and a FujiFilm x 100. My kit lens 24 - 300mm. My two favourite prime lenses 50mm F1.4 and my 110mm DC F 2 both Nikon lenses. Also 2 flames and triggers plus a flash light. My tripod and a remote trigger.Feedback
Scout out areas you would like to shot wither via the internet or in person. But the biggest factor is the practice and learn the skills you will need.
