In the western mountains of North Carolina in Boone which is about 4,000 feet above sea level.Time
It was during the afternoon and the clouds were rolling over the meadow.Lighting
With the light changing due to clouds moving through the sky, I turned on my flash when it was overcast.Equipment
Camera was a Nikon d5100 with a 50-300mm Nikon lens. I attached a flash.Inspiration
The end of July the butterflies follow the blooming milkweed and thistle. I was camping that weekend and noticed a lot of mountain flowers blooming. I like simple subjects and simple colors.Editing
Not much. I cropped it and adjusted the light a little. That's a weak area for me. Most of the photos I see on this sight have been very manipulated by photoshop and other editing programs. The photos look great, but unrealistic.In my camera bag
A windbreaker, hat, and gloves along with an extra camera battery, flash with extra batteries, cardboard to go above lens for sun flare.Feedback
Have a plan and work your plan. Most good photographers know what they are looking for and scout the site ahead of time. Hopefully the site will be similar when its time to shoot.
