Behind The Lens

Location

This was a flower in the gardens on Manhattan's Highline walking path.

Time

Roughly around mid-afternoon on a summer day.

Lighting

This was done with totally natural lighting.

Equipment

All handheld, using an Olympus OMD-EM5 with a 12-50mm set to 43mm f6.

Inspiration

I was wanting to get a unique view of a very interesting flower. Putting the centre of the flower off to the edge and focussing on the pointed stigma instead.

Editing

Did absolutely no post-processing other than a crop for better composition.

In my camera bag

I love travelling so I try to keep things to a minimum: a wide angle and a standard mid-range zoom along with my Olympus OMD-EM5, and of course some back up batteries and filters.

Feedback

Always try to look for the most interesting angles. Composition, in my opinion, makes for a much more interesting and compelling image, especially if it's of something which is seen often from standard angles.
