Like the selective color processing keeping the golden eyes. Need to enter in Animal Eyes contest.

Location
This is a wonderful Iberic Lynx female found in the Civitella Alfedena nature reserve in the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, one of the wildest and beautiful places in Europe for Nature and Wildlife photography! The place can be found in central Italy near the city of L'Aquila.Time
it was a late afternoon and we where just on the way back to the car after a very long hike around the highest peaks of the Camosciara mountain range at the border with the integral natural reservation where only researchers and scientists are allowed!Lighting
This lynx was aware of our presence but no stupid or upsetting things were done to take these photos.. always remember that you are a guest in the wilderness and the animals are not there to take a calendar photoshot..Equipment
this shot was taken with a canon powershot xs60 at x60 full zoom extent (equivalent to 800mm) so we could stay a little bit away and take as well a closeup, no other equipment was employed in the making..Inspiration
The backlight from the setting sun was just perfect to highlight the animal silouette and the subject itself was just amazingly calm and very curious of these two guys staring at her!Editing
the post-processing was focused on sharpening the details and noise reduction at first, later I focused on balancing shadows and black in greyscale to let the backlight bounce a bit more and finally the color selection for these amazing eyes, what can I say.. just stare at them for a while! In my camera bag
for that hike we where heavely equipped for a 18h alpinistic path so there was not so much room for photographic tools, we prefered to take with us a compact bridge with powerful magnification and relatively good wide angles for landscape photography, what can I say.. I always prefere versatility against quality when there is no other way to carry such weights around the mountains!Feedback
about wildlife photography: it is always amazing to have a link with such great animals but don't try to get closer than safe and please, for any reason, do not upset or scare the animals just to take a "dynamic" shot.. they will be greatful for that and will repay your patience with wonderful natural poses!
